The Top 5 Free BlackBerry Apps For 2010

Ever since the iPhone introduced the app store, the demand for smart phone applications has gone through the roof. Each new smart phone that is now released is expected to have the extensibility support for apps, and that is no different for the current players such as the BlackBerry.

BlackBerry apps have become more popular over the recent months with the growing functionality of the iPhone pushing its rivals to go the extra mile. But with so many iPhone and BlackBerry apps available, which is the best?

Below are the top 5 free BlackBerry apps for 2010.

1. BlackBerry App World  - The BlackBerry App World application personalises your smart phone with social networking, games and much more. Although quite an obvious choice, the App World application allows you to download new apps straight from your smart phone. Much like the iPhone App Store, this application exists to make it much easier for people to download apps without the need to hunt around the web to find them. A must have.

2. Qik  - This app has been around a while, but Qik really is an excellent app to have. With video streaming becoming increasingly popular in 2010, Qik allows you to stream video straight to the web for your friends and family to see while in action. You are able to stream or download the videos from the Qik website, and it has complete social networking integration for websites such as Twitter and YouTube.

3. Foursquare  - If you haven't heard of Foursquare then you must have been living under a Internet shaped rock for the past few months. The basic premise of Foursquare is that it is a social networking website with a difference. Users access Foursquare from different places using the BlackBerry app, and it uses GPS to identify your current location. With each check in you earn points, and more points are awarded for being advantageous (ie: exploring lots of places in one day). This is one of those games that you have to experience for yourself - and it is definitely worth it.

4. Flixster Movies - If you are a big movie fan then this app should be perfect for you. Movies by Flixster is an app that allows you to watch high quality movie trailers, get details of the latest movies, read reviews and much more. The app is very user friendly and contains details relevant to the UK, Canada and the United States.

5. Pandora  - Similar to Last.fm, Pandora is a personalised radio app that allows you to play all of your favourite artists and also related songs and albums. You are able to select your favourite artists in Pandora, and relevant recommended songs will be provided to you. As the BlackBerry website says: "Get the Pandora application... and be prepared to fall in love with music all over again"

So there you have it - the top 5 free BlackBerry apps for 2010. There are many applications available for the BlackBerry is it continues to show the world that it can compete with the iPhone - but some are obviously better than others.

Fused Mobility are a specialist distributer of smartphones and continue to deliver the latest RIM BlackBerry devices.

Samsung Galaxy Tab With Adobe Flash Support

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is a mobile tablet style device that has garnered a lot of commercial attention since its release. One of the many features that convince people of its worth is the existence of version 10.1 Adobe Flash support within the device. Most android powered devices cannot handle Flash properly. However, the unique design scheme of the Galaxy Tab allows for both using and not using flash for those who are concerned about such things. With Flash on, the device can run with a great deal of smoothness involved. With it off it is a blazing fast machine that can handle pretty much anything that the average user will be able to throw at it.

There are many reasons to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Those reasons vary among the different customers and users. Some adore the concept of Adobe Flash on a mobile device. Other people do not recognize why this is so important and focus on other features such as the super amoled screen. There are a large number of features which recommend the Galaxy Tab highly. Those features can be found in part inside other devices. Few bring them all together in as attractive a package as this device, however.

The battery life, high-resolution screen, dual USB ports, and 3G connectivity are only a few of its keener aspects. This device is sought after by many. Unfortunately, the state of current economic times has decreed that many people simply cannot afford to buy one flat-out at a retail store. There is hope for these people, however.

Hope comes to those in search of a Galaxy Tab via two very useful methods of acquiring this device. The easiest, but most expensive, method will be wholesale reselling of the device. A more difficult tactic will involve a great deal of luck and tenacity. This second method includes playing lottery style games, winning sweepstakes, or accepting promotional giveaways.

The idea of buying a large number of Galaxy Tab devices might seem counter to the idea of receiving them for free or at a reduced cost. However, the truth is that wholesale reselling is the best way to acquire these devices without cost. The initial price of purchasing them in large numbers will be rendered moot once the extraneous units are sold. When they are purchased at whole sale prices they are typically between 50%- 70% of the cost of retail value for the device. This means that every one to two units sold completely pays for a second or third unit. Someone who buys one hundred units may be able to regain all of their money after selling 50 -70 units. The rest of these units are then technically free. Anything made from these units will be profit. There is nothing wrong with keeping a few of them for you or for friends and family. These numbers also scale downward nicely so that ten to twenty units can be bought and sold in the same way.

Outside of reselling these devices a free Samsung Galaxy Tab can be acquired through winning an online sweepstakes, promotion means, or simply by purchasing a handful of them. Some people give away Galaxy Tab accessories for free when the device is purchased at regular price.

Review for the Samsung Galaxy Tab

There are a large number of tablet style computers on the market currently. Among these numerous items there is generally one defining characteristic that most focus on. This characteristic will be the type of operating system the machine runs on. Those who work with Apple and its iPad often scoff at those who enjoy the power and user friendly nature of the Android OS. These individuals have had to withdraw some of their disdain with the advent of Android 2.2. When tablets are created using this system, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab, there are a wide variety of opportunities that become available for both software and hardware designers.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab, using the Android 2.2 'Froyo' operating system, is capable of providing outstanding quality service and capacity. The famous super amoled screen which is a trademark of Samsung's technology is in place. This provides incredible detail and quality visual entertainment. Overall the device is a solid piece of easily portable technology.

The Galaxy Tab is built with a 1GHz Hummingbird Cortex A8 processor, Adobe Flash 10.1, and a host of apps that many people will find enjoyable. Overall the 7" device is easy to carry due to its pocket-size nature. The battery life of the device is among the best in the business. While it is considered to have only a seven hour battery reserve when watching HD videos with its 720p capable screen technology, it has been proven that it has a great deal more life expectancy during normal usage. A typical Samsung Galaxy Tab can be utilized in a light to moderate fashion for a long period of time without using much power. Some tests have shown that sporadic usage over a period of two days left the test device with a bit over 30% of its battery left.

There are a large number of people interested in this device. This is due primarily to the fact that Samsung has set it up to be the first pocket portable tablet PC that can give the iPad a real run for its money. It jump-starts the new generation of smart tablets. There are a few minor issues with the device in general, but there are no perfect pieces of technology. The issues with this device can readily be fixed by sorting through the preferences the tablet allows for. Flash is amazing, but it can slow the device down at times. If such an occurrence becomes apparent the individual may simply disable it until they reach a better signal location. 3G support is amazing on the Samsung Galaxy Tab in general. Most people should readily be able to find an appropriate location for usage of their device in their home.

Acquiring a Samsung Galaxy Tab can be a bit expensive for some individuals. However, there are methods available for acquiring a Galaxy Tab free of charge or at a reduced cost. These methods include promotional giveaways, buying in bulk and selling the extras, and even receiving a free Samsung Galaxy Tab for review on a technology blog the individual writes for or owns.

I am a gadget enthusiast and I generally write about the latest in the tech industry.
